A meeting of the United National Party (UNP) Working Committee was held yesterday at the Party Headquarters to discuss about the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
It has been reported that the UNP working committee passed a resolution to back the Prime Minister and defeat the no confidence motion moved by the Joint Opposition.
The no-confidence motion will be debated in parliament on 4th April. A vote will be taken on the same day.
The UNP working committee has also decided that restructuring of the party will take place in two months. The restructuring is expected to prepare the party for the 2020 elections under a new leadership.
Meanwhile, a special meeting of the United National Front leaders will also be held this afternoon.
