The reorganization of the United National Party (UNP) will be carried out within the first two weeks of April, UNP parliamentarian Prof. Ashu Marasinghe said.
At a media briefing held yesterday at the UNP headquarters, Sirikotha, Prof. Marasinghe said the reorganization work is essential to strengthen the party to go forward strongly in in the future as a political party. Accordingly, all the party leaders are prepared to give priority to the party’s reforms.
He pointed out that although the no confidence motion put forward by the joint opposition targeted at the Prime Minister, it’s directed towards the entire government. Therefore, the UNP as a party and government will strongly face the no confidence motion and the party has the ability to defeat the motion, he said.
Prof Marasinghe said the no confidence motion will be made a motion expressing confidence in the Prime Minister and the government and after defeating the motion on April 4th the government would clean up the garbage and start a new journey.
He said the no confidence motion is an opportunity to clearly identify the MPs who are against the government and remove that group in the forward journey.
