The United National Party, led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has begun its restructuring process.
The working committee of the UNP and the parliamentary group met at Temple Trees on Saturday under the leadership of the Prime Minister for two special rounds of talks for the complete reorganization of the party changing party posts.
A supervisory board headed by Prime Minister has been appointed to accelerate restructuring activities and it is expected the meetings to continue for a second day on Sunday (08).
Three committees headed by deputy leader Minister Sajith Premadasa, State Minister Ruwan Wijewardene and MP J.C. Alawathuwala have also been appointed to make recommendations for the changes.
The final decisions of all the reorganization activities of the party will be taken at these meetings considering the recommendations of the committees and a committee will be appointed to oversee the implementation of the party re-organization activities.
General Secretary of the UNP Kabir Hashim and Chairman Malik Samarawickrema has already resigned from their posts to help the restructuring process.
