Uma Oya sub-committee report handed over to cabinet

The report prepared by the Ministerial Sub Committee appointed to resolve the problems arising out of the implementation of the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project has been handed over to the cabinet.

Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and State Minister of Mahaweli Development Mahinda Amaraweera said the sub-committee report has made several recommendations to resolve the issues.

The reports includes suggestions for the issues that had risen due to the current leakage of water of the Uma Oya project. Among them are suggestions for distribution of drinking water, information on places with cracks including houses, schools, temples, and other places, resettlement, compensation, and acquiring 50 acres of land from the Craig Estate to the government for resettlement of people.
