The Colombo Magistrate’s Court has extended former President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s driver’s placement in remand custody till July 18, our news sources said.
The chauffeur and another individual were previously arrested over the alleged misuse of state-owned property.
The court correspondent stated that the Court today (11) ordered that the two arrestees be placed in remand custody till July 18.
The two arrestees, Tissa Wimalasena and Lal Sirisena were arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) for allegedly running a rock quarry illegally on land belonging to the Land Reclamation Commission, consequently costing the Government over Rs. 20 million in losses.
