A training on producing environmentally-friendly handbags has taken place as part of programmes by ‘Dhana Saviya’ to promote self-employment among women.
Deputy minister Dr. Anoma Gamage chaired the commencement of the training in Ampara for 10 women from Ampara, Uhana and Tissapura areas.
The required financial assistance and natural raw material will be given through the decentralized budgetary allocation of the deputy minister.
The monthly earning from the handbag production ranges between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 35,000 per woman.
