Tight security for Anika’s family

The CID yesterday said tight security had been provided to family members of Anika Wijesuriya, who had fled the country following death threats, after she gave evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry that her Monarch Residencies penthouse in Colombo 3 had been leased to former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake and paid for by Perpetual Treasures owner Arjun Aloysius.

Police said they were gathering more information about the person named Anil Nettikumara claimed to be a close associate of the Karunanayake family for making death threats to Ms. Wijesuriya over the phone.

Anika Wijessuriya is living in Singapore and when she visited Sri Lanka to attend a funeral of a close friend the threats had continued forcing her to leave the country without delay.
