Sri Lanka has offered 500 acres of land to the Government of Andhra Pradesh to develop an industrial park.
President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe made separate phone calls to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu on Friday to convey their government’s decision.
This was in response to a proposal submitted by Naidu to the Sri Lanka government when he visited Colombo last January to participate as Chief Guest in the celebrations on the present government completing two years in office.
T Srinivasa Rao, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to AP CM Naidu in New Delhi, told the Sunday Island: “Mr Naidu has informed President Sirisena that he will send a delegation of industry leaders and officials to Sri Lanka for consultations with the government to discuss the project in detail.”
Rao added: “Prime Minister Wickremesinghe told Mr Naidu that he will depute a delegation to Amaravati (the state’s new capital) soon to take the proposal forward.”
