Six students drown in North when boat capsizes off Jaffna

At least six students have died after their boat capsized in seas off Mandativu in Jaffna,  Police said.

Bodies of five students have been recovered while the Sri Lanka Navy is currently engaged in a search operation for the student who is reported missing, Police Media Unit said.

It has been reported that seven students were on the boat when it capsized. One of the students was rescued by the police.

The students had taken a boat trip to celebrate completion of their 2017 Advanced Level Examination.
