The Supreme Court yesterday fixed for support on November 24, the fundamental rights violation petition filed by Gamini Senarath, the Chief of Staff of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Piyadasa Kudabalaga, Director of Insurance Corporation and Neil D. Hapuhinnega, the Commissioner General of Samurdhi, complaining of unlawful arrest by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division.
They are charged in the Magistrate’s Court, Fort of having spent four billion rupees to build the ‘Hayat Regency Hotel’ at Hambanatota, without Cabinet approval. The Magistrate has remanded all three of them till November 21. The suspects had applied for bail.
The Magistrate is to decide on the bail application on November 21.
