President Maithripala Sirisena says that the government will provide a viable solution to the country’s waste management problem.
He stated that while no previous government had succeeded in providing a solution to the issue, a viable solution will be given by the incumbent so that no other government will have to face the issue ever again in the future.
The president said that the government has implemented a permanent solution to the garbage issue using new technology and based on international cooperation and technical assistance.
He said that garbage would not pose a problem to the people of the country within the next couple of years.
President Sirisena made these comments during a ceremony held Saturday (22) to open the newly built Sri Seelarathana Nahimi Commemoration Meditation Hall at the Millathakanda Viveka Senasanaya in Kirindiwela.
The Sri Seelarathana Nahimi Commemoration Meditation Hall and the Samadhi Buddha Statue were unveiled to mark the 77th Birth Anniversary of the late former Minister Hon. Sarathchandra Rajakaruna.
