Petition against MP Kumara Welgama to be heard on Nov 29

The Colombo High Court has deiced to hear the petition against Kalutara District parliamentarian Kumara Welgama on the 29th of November.

The petition requests to annul the permission provided to the Bribery Commission to revise the charge sheet against MP Welgama.

The relevant permission to the Bribery Commission was granted by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s court.

When the petition was heard today before Colombo High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi, the senior counsel representing the MP was not present in the court and the junior counsel requested another date. The judge granted the request made y the defense.

The Kalutara District MP is charged of misusing over Rs. 3 million government funds unlawfully creating a deputy chairmanship in the Sri Lanka Transport Board when he was the Transport Minister during the previous government.
