More Sri Lankan women who encountered intimidation after taking up jobs as housemaids in the rich Middle Eastern countries have been brought back to the country.
A group of 120 domestic workers who faced various harassments while employed in Kuwait will return to the country today (May 24), the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) said.
The SLFBE said 52 housemaids returned to the country this morning and the others will be arriving later in the day.
The aggrieved housemaids’ return was facilitated by the Sri Lankan mission in Kuwait.
The Bureau said another 50 housemaids who have sought shelter from the embassy will be brought back soon.
