Sri Lanka’s Disaster management Center (DMC) says more than one million people in 15 districts are affected by the dry weather conditions.
Mostly, people in Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Puttalam, and Vavuniya districts are severely affected and in greater difficulty due to the drought.
The DMC said it has spent more than 40 million rupees for the relief activities implemented for the victims. Around 200 bowsers have been used to distribute drinking water to the affected public.
The people can lodge complaints regarding relief activities by dialing 117, the agency says.
Minister of Disaster Management Anura Priyadarshana Yapa told national TV that a special discussion will be held tomorrow with the relevant officials on providing relief to the people.
