The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation has been unable to bring a live broadcast of the cricket match series against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi that began with the first Test yesterday.
Lovers of the game have telephoned and inquired from the SLBC as to why no live broadcast is taking place at a time when there is a serious dialogue on the local game of cricket.
Upon inquiry by us, it was found that the decision not to carry a live broadcast was taken due to having no commercial advertisements.
This is said to be a matter that could go to courts.
A case in point is that a group of listeners successfully challenged at courts a SLBC decision in the mid-1990s to halt an education service.
Before such a thing happens and since the series has just started, the media minister and other relevant authorities could intervene and rectify this, cricket lovers hope.
