Minimum standard of medical education to be gazetted

Minimum standards of the Medical education in Sri Lanka will be gazetted in two weeks, the Minister of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said addressing a ceremony in Galle on Monday.

The Minister today laid the foundation stone to build a five-storied building at Nurses College in Maha Modera in Galle. A sum of Rs. 555 million will be spent for the project.

Minister Senaratne said that some medical officers unions protest private medical education but private medical faculties and higher education institutes are popular in foreign countries.

He pointed out that a considerable number of the medical officers serving in Sri Lankan hospitals are also graduate from foreign universities.
