The Colombo High Court yesterday noticed two sureties for UPFA Member of Parliament for Kandy District Mahindananda Aluthgamage to be present in court on December 13.
When the trial was called in court yesterday the accused Aluthgamage was not present. His lawyer informed the court that he had to attend Parliament and, therefore, could not come.
The High Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga asked whether the two sureties were present in court. They were absent.
The court then issued notice on them, ordering them to be present in court on Dec. 13. Aluthgamage has been indicted with money laundering to the tune of Rs. 27 million by purchasing a property in Colombo 7 while he was a minister of the previous government.
Judge Kulatunga re-fixed the trial for Dec. 13, 14, 15.
