Minister Daya Gamage requests voters to elect the UNP to power in the villages in order to realize the plans to bring about a massive development to the country by 2020.
He made the request after the UNP handed over nominations today for local government bodies of Ampara district.
The minister said the shortcomings in the villages would be rectified and the rural economy strengthened to take the country forward.
According to him, the party has a cohesive plan to win the LG polls.
Mr. Gamage noted that the government built more than 350 bridges in Ampara and allotted money to develop over 300 roads in the district.
Furthermore, the i-Road project would be launched by July to develop more roads, he said.
He also said major planning has been made to secure development for the area and high profits for its farmers through agri-economy by promoting cinnamon, pepper, ginger and TEJC mango cultivations.
Deputy minister Dr. Anoma Gamage said on the occasion that the UNP demonstrated its organizing prowess by handing over all its nominations successfully, without any rejections.
After the election is won, there will be unprecedented development in Ampara, she said, and asked voters not to allow their votes went waste.
