Just two days ahead of the presentation of the next budget, the government yesterday submitted another supplementary estimate seeking parliamentary approval for expenses related to contingent liabilities to the tune of Rs 11,206 million during the month of September this year.
According to the estimate Rs. 6,340 million is recurrent expenditure and 4,928 capital expenditure.
Rs. 35 million was spent on foreign trips during the month of September. For the foreign tours the Ministry of Women’s and Child Affairs had spent Rs. 500,000, the ministry of Foreign affairs Rs. 3,160,000, Primary Industries Ministry Rs. 3,000,000, and Ministry of Skills Development Rs. 496,000.
For the maintenance of vehicles Rs 5,950,000 was spent for the month of September. The amount was spent by the Department of Legal Draftsman, Leader of the House office of Parliament and the Sri Lanka Air Force. The Ministry of Social Empowerment has spent Rs. 150,000,000 for the BIMSTEC summit on poverty.
Rs. 11,472,500 was paid as compensation to the families of Beruwala and Aluthgama, who lost some of their members due to ethnic violence in Dharga town during 15.06.2014 and 16.06.2014.
