Government docs to strike

Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) threatened to take stern trade union action if President Maithripala Sirisena fails to provide a final solution to the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) issue on Monday as promised.

Addressing media, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said the union held discussions with President Sirisena on the SAITM issue last Friday (26) and the President assured that he will to reveal government’s position on the controversial issue.

GMOA secretary said the strike action taken by doctors of the North-Central hospitals today will be strengthened from Wednesday (30).
