Steps have been taken to create 100 Wi-Fi zones in the Colombo city as a first step of the countrywide programme to provide free Wi-Fi. The Colombo Municipal Council has initiated a scheme to set up 20 Wi-Fi zones within the city and more than 10 Wi-Fi zones are already running. This project has been implemented in keeping with a concept of the Prime Minister, according to a press release issued by Policy Development Office.
“This machine will provide the public an in-build Wi-Fi as they are frequently engaged browsing internet in today’s growing technological world. This will make our city tech friendly and make our public technologically advanced. In addition, it includes facility for the public to charge their mobile phones while they are on the street and a Trash Can which accommodate 75 cubic liters of waste at a time.
As the second step, steps are being taken to identify the remaining 80 locations within the city of Colombo. This Project is planned to be implemented in Matara, Galle, Kandy and other cities of Sri Lanka in the near future.
DLB ‘Kotipathi Shanida’produces another multi-millionaire!
A resident in the Kandy District is the lucky winner of the biggest ever inaugural lottery prize offered by the Development Lotteries Board. The winner hit the massive jackpot of Rs. 104,565,936 when the 200th draw was held on October 10.
During the span of last 18 months, DLB has produced three other millionaires. One winner from Badulla District won Rs. 9.8 million, while Gampaha District produced a winner who bagged Rs. 8.1 million. The third winner from Colombo District walked away with Rs. 7.7 million.
These jackpot winners reiterate the trust and confidence the people of Sri Lanka have placed on the Development Lotteries Board’s ‘Kotipathi Shanida’ lottery ticket to make their dreams a reality, the DLB said.
