Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has failed to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department today although she had been summoned to give a statement regarding the rugby player Wasim Thajudeen murder investigation.
Mrs. Rajapaksa has been summoned to record a statement related to the handing over of a jeep given to the Siriliya Saviya Foundation from the Red Cross Society to her son Yoshitha Rajapaksa.
The CID was required to obtain information on a Defender with the registration number WPK-0642.
She has been asked to appear before the CID at 9 am today. She informed through her lawyers that she was unable to be present before the CID today and made a request from the CID to grant her another day.
Yoshitha Rajapaksa too has been summoned to the CID tomorrow to record a statement with respect to this incident.
