State Minister of Defence, Ruwan Wijewardene stated that Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka’s statement regaring the former Chief of Defence Staff, Jagath Jayasuriya, had been his own personal view.
He explained that the bad blood between the two parties had been the reason behind the statement, and added that President Maithripala Sirisena would accordingly be intervening to solve the dispute.
The State Minister expressed these sentiments at Kadawatha, upon speaking to the media about Fonseka’s statement.
Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka stated yesterday (01) that he would present himself to any judicial body to submit evidence against former Chief of Defence Staff Jagath Jayasuriya to justify the war crimes allegations against him.
Meanwhile, Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe added that the Government had not finalized their stance on the human rights allegations directed at Jagath Jayasuriya.
