Minister of Health Dr. Rajitha Senaratne said that steps were being taken to eliminate Dengue and the number of Dengue patients is reducing daily.
He said the Dengue ward at National Hospital was closed from 7th August. The additional wards at Negombo Hospital which were taken over to admit dengue patients have also been given back.
Being able to control the Dengue Epidemic in a very short time is an achievement said the Minister addressing a Dengue Prevention Program at Waters Edge, Battaramulla yesterday (8th Aug.)
He said that in the event there are climatic changes there can be a rise of Dengue patients. Therefore cleaning premises to eliminate dengue mosquito larvae should be done continuously.
According to the Epidemiology Unit of Health Ministry, so far this year, 127,741 suspected dengue cases have been reported from all over the island.
