Contempt case against Galagodaatte thera fixed for support

The Court of Appeal yesterday fixed for support on May 24, 2017, a complaint of contempt of court filed against the Venerable Galagodaaatte Gnanasara Thera.

The complainant is the Magistrate of Homagama, who has said that the Thera intentionally disturbed the proceedings of his court when an inquiry in respect of the disappearance of Pradeep Ekneligoda was being heard on January 25, 2016.

President’s Counsel Manohara de Silva appeared for the Thera, who has pleaded not guilty to the charge of contempt of court, levelled against him.

The bench comprised Justice H. C. J. Madawela and Justice Preethi Padman Soorasena.
