The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Perpetual Treasuries Kasun Palisena has been summoned to testify before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the bond scam tomorrow.
Palisena is the first witness testifying before the Commission representing the Perpetual Treasuries after the Commission concluded recording evidence of witnesses summoned by the Attorney General’s Department.
The CEO’s evidence will be led by the Counsel representing the company, Nihal Fernando PC.
President’s Counsel Fernando said it was his responsibility to justify the bond dealings of Perpetual Treasuries.
Commission Chairman Justice K. T. Chitrasiri told Counsel Fernando last Friday that he should reciprocate in submitting copies of evidence given by witnesses of Perpetual Treasuries to the AG’s Department legal team helping the Commission to enable them to prepare themselves for cross examining.
After Palisena concludes giving evidence, the Commission will summon Senior Asst Director of the Central Bank Saman Kumara who is under interdiction to testify.
