Primary industries minister Daya Gamage says he will be submitting a cabinet paper to ensure a certified price for the local pepper produce and to purchase it by the government.
He revealed the details at a meeting at his ministry with representatives of the Samastha Lanka Govijana Sammelanaya today (17).
Accordingly, a Rs. 900 per kilo certified price will be announced for the export quality pepper he said.
Twenty-two purchasing centers will be set up in Ratnapura, Matale, Moneragala, Hambantota and Kurunegala districts to buy 5,000 tons.
