The cabinet has given approval to a set of proposals presented by the government to immediately resolve the problems resulted from the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development scheme.
A Cabinet subcommittee appointed to resolve the problems arising out of the implementation of the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project has prepared its report and recommended a set of measures to alleviate the difficulties faced by residents due to the project.
Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development and state Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment Minister Amaraweera who is the chairman of the ministerial sub-committee had presented the proposal to the Cabinet of Ministers on Tuesday.
The cabinet has given its approval to implement the recommendations with immediate effect, for providing reliefs for affected persons,
Accordingly, following measures have been proposed.
