Two suspects of the Avant Garde case have been ordered to appear before the court on September 19.
Colombo High Court Judge R Gurusinghe today ordered the Chairman of controversial Avant Garde Maritime Services (Pvt) Ltd Major Nissanka Senadhipathi and former chairman of the now defunct Rakna Araksha Lanka (RALL) Ltd. Palitha Fernando to appear before the court on September 19.
The suspects, who were arrested and subsequently released on bail in September last year, are alleged of soliciting a bribe of 35.5 million rupees.
The court summoned the suspects to appear before the court to hand down the indictments on 47 counts in the case filed by the Bribery.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on September 01, 2016 filed charges at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court against Nissanka Senadhipathi and seven others including the former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and three former navy commanders Somathilaka Dissanayake, Jayanath Colombage and Jayantha Perera.
