Accident at Pinnaduwa

A road accident on the southern expressway near the Pinnaduwa entry point has left 17 people injured. The bus carrying them from Kadawatha to Kataragama has crashed into a fence on the road. The injured have been admitted to Karapitiya and Elpitiya hospitals.

Vinoj Suranjaya set a new Sri Lanka record in the men’s 200 m event yesterday. At the athletics qualifying rounds at Sugathadasa Stadium, he clocked 20.68 seconds. He bettered the 20.29 seconds mark set by Sugatha Tilakaratne in 1998.

Sri Lanka’s per capita income surpassed the 4,000 dollar mark in 2017. The Central Bank said the figure stood at 4,065 or Rs. 619,729. It stood at 3,857 dollars in 2016.
