SLC election postponed

The election for Sri Lanka Cricket, which was scheduled to be held on May 19, has been postponed due to an issue with the elections committee, the Ministry of Sports said. Nominations were due to close today. Thilanga Sumathipala will head an interim committee until the election is held.

Protective fence along Viani Canal

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the director general of the Mahaweli Authority to erect a protective fence along the Viani Canal. Many vehicles plying on the nearby Badulla-Mahiyangana road have fallen into the canal. The fence erection will cost around Rs. 26 million.
