At the request of primary industries minister Daya Gamage in his capacity as the founder of Dayasarana Development Foundation, China has offered scholarships for 20 Sri Lankan youths to pursue applied meteorology degrees.
Ten of the scholarships will be offered by the Chinese government while the other 10 are by the Nanjing University of Information, Science and Technology, where the students will pursue their studies.
Selected from across the country, the youth will leave for China on September 18.
This morning (04), they met with minister Daya Gamage and deputy minister Dr. Anoma Gamage and obtained their blessings.
Addressing them, the minister said the subject they were going to pursue is crucial for the world and has an unseen value.
Therefore, he asked them to maximum use of the opportunity given them.
